It is best to upscale the image with Paint or Gimp. This improves the resolution and makes it easier to extract a precise contour. Please reset the global scaling factor!

The best way to check this is by:
- The number of visible contours matches the number of detected contours, see bottom left in the status area Visible elements: x of x.
- Moving a point to see if there is another contour underneath it.
The best way to check this is by:
- In the drawing area with the function “Open element” (select only one line of the contour) and the function “Connect two identical elements” (select the two points of the open contour).
- With a graphic dividing line, e.g. in Paint or Gimp.

ContourTrace is a pure 2D programme. Depths can therefore only be implemented in an external CAD programme.
However, contour colours can be used to transfer information, e.g. the depth, laser power and cutting speed.
Yes, by using the action Draw rectangular polygons action in the drawing tab.
After drawing the contour to precisely place the four points, select each point individually and define the x and y values for each frame point in the Point properties group on the Drawing tab.
When you close the software, the last settings used are saved. These are immediately available again when you open the software.
There are three possibilities:
- Copying and redesigning an existing contour
- Extending an existing contour to include the recessed grips
- Drawing the recessed grip into the raster graphic using a drawing program such as Paint or Gimp.
How do you align the images? Is there such a thing as crosshairs?
- Contours can be moved, copied, rotated, scaled, mirrored, and manipulated in the drawing area.
- Lines and points can be arranged horizontally or vertically.
If the camera parameters have changed between the images taken, the scale must be set for each individual contour using the Scale function.
If the camera parameters have not changed between the images taken, the scaling factor can be set once globally for these images.
Inserts a chamfer of a certain length at the selected point or at both ends of the selected line segment. Several elements can be selected.
Note
The specified chamfer length must be less than half of the smallest line segment in the selection..
To allow ContourTrace to communicate through Windows Firewall, Follow the steps given bellow.
Step 1 – Click the start button.
Step 2 – Type firewall in the search box and click on “Windows Defender Firewall”.
Step 3 – Click on “Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall”.
Step 4 – Click on “Change settings”.
Step 5 – If Contourtrace is not visible under the “Allowed apps and features” list, make sure it is installed and click on “Add another app” to add the ContourTrace.exe file from the installed file location.

Step 6 – Select and check “contourtrace” and allow “Private” communication.

If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Select the check box next to ContourTrace to allow it.
ContourTrace can now communicate with the Internet.

With ContourTrace, you can create contours quickly and easily, saving valuable resources in the form of time. This results in enormous savings potential for your company, enabling you to reduce costs.
ContourTrace offers you a simple, fast, and automated extraction of contours from images. Simplicity is the central focus. With the extensions from version 2.1.0, contours can be easily manipulated and adapted to your needs.
ContourTrace is a software that allows you to automatically, easily and quickly extract contours and splines from images and export them to DXF or SVG format. Typical use cases are e.g. the extraction of tool contours for the creation of tool inserts or shadowboards. In addition, there are numerous other use cases in both private and industrial environments.
